The Beecher House is a historic and newly renovated Zen Studies Society facility located on the shores of Beecher Lake, surrounded by 1,400 acres of wilderness in the Catskill Mountains. Surrounded by pristine forest, pure water, deep silence and a night sky filled with glittering stars, the Beecher House is an unparalleled venue for retreats.
Accommodating groups ranging from 10 to 18 participants, the Beecher House offers spiritual practitioners undistracted intimacy and seclusion. The only sounds other than the calls of birds and animals, wind, raindrops and the rushing creek are the Daisho (great gong) and Han, ritual instruments used in daily practice at Dai Bosatsu Zendo, the Zen Studies Society’s traditional Rinzai Zen monastery just up the tree-lined road.
Retreats
The Beecher House supports various configurations for retreats. Packages can include vegetarian meals prepared by our cook in the professional kitchen, or you bring your own chef.
Support your participants with the offerings of meditation, contemplative and body practices, yoga, Zen arts, or recovery in this uniquely conducive setting of stillness and peace.
